A Plea for Help   1 comment

Incredibly Expensive

Cancer treatment is not only physically devastating, it is financially devastating as well, regardless of insurance status: copays, deductibles, and time off work add up to what is very often a catastrophic drain on financial resources for families facing this illness.

Over the next several months, Greg faces a fight for his life like no other. His bone marrow has been harvested for use after chemo is complete. Last week, he was admitted to the hospital for the first of a series of extremely aggressive, very toxic chemotherapy treatments (please see blog posts for details). His entire hospitalization (assuming no complications) will total approximately 12 weeks, over the next four to five months.

In the midst of all of this, Greg’s main concern remains for his wife Colleen, and 16-year-old daughter, Ilona, and the additional financial hardship they will face with this additional treatment on top of last year’s medical bills. Although Greg’s employer has been very accommodating in paying for a portion of his time off, much remains unpaid. Greg is not eligible for state disability, and although their insurance covers many expenses, they are still hounded daily by creditors, even as they seek to pay for what is needed for their family and animals to survive one day to the
next.

We Can’t Do This Alone

We, as family, are asking for your help. We appreciate the fact that most of us are all stretched pretty thin, ourselves, but still, we’re asking:  Please give what you can, a little, a lot, prayer support, a phone call, a card or letter – it’s all important and very much appreciated.

Thank you, family and friends, for your loving support in prayer and deeds. We need you all like never before!  Thank you, and may God Bless You All!

  1. Hi Girls!!!! This is Susan, of Susan, Bianca and Alexia. I am wondering if you are set up to receive donations for the garage sale? We will be donating everything that I wavered about during our last move….I would do anything for the Becks.I miss them so terribly and still haven’t gotten over the fact that the bottom fell out right as we were going move with them to Texas. Bless you for having such a grandiose idea…………………..we can’t offer dollars, however, we will be bugging everyone to pick up their donations. If I can help you at all, please let me know. My cell is 619-368-1720. If there is an attended donation station, I will begin right away. Blessings and prayers to you!! Susan
